One of the most controversial players in the NFL today has been extended by the Chiefs. The superstar Tyreek Hill made plenty of offseason headlines this offseason, but obviously the Chiefs felt he was deserving a new contract. This article will breakdown the deal and how it benefits both sides

The Deal:
Tyreek Hill, Wide Receiver: 3 years 54 million 35 million guaranteed

Reaction, Analysis, & Grade:
Tyreek Hill is one of the most explosive athletes in the NFL today. He has unbelievable speed, and has become nearly unstoppable with quarterback Patrick Mahomes running the show. Hill has a great first step, and can beat just about anyone downfield with his God given talent alone. Hill has good hands, and makes up for his lack of size with his speed and agility. Once Hill catches a pass he is extremely dangerous after the catch, and has the ability to accelerate past defenders. Tyreek is also can hurt his opponents with his return skills. He is a gifted player in open space, and is always a threat to return a kick or punt for a touchdown. He has made several pro-bowls, and has developed into one of the best wide receivers in the game instead of simply a return man. The deal is very team friendly, and is short term mainly because of Hill’s off the field issues. He will make annually 18 million a year which will put him as one of the top earning receivers in the league. However, the guaranteed money is not astronomical, and as I mentioned the short term deal gives the Chiefs flexibility. Hill is far from a perfect character off the field. He has had multiple issues dating back to his college days with domestic violence. He has been accused and charged in the past for abusing his long term partner Crystal Espinal. Including one incident where Hill allegedly choked out Espinal while she was pregnant with their son. He recently was in the news for the wrong reasons after findings showed signs of abuse to his three year old son. Hill was caught on tape admitting to beating his son when he misbehaves, and also accused of punching his son in the chest. Hill has stated that there was no foul play, and the hitting was the result of boxing lessons. However, this explanation has been widely disputed by the media, and have resulted in Hill being seen in a bad light in the media. Despite his off the field troubles, there is no denying what kind of talent Tyreek Hill has. He is gifted in every aspect of football, and is one of the most game changing receivers in the game of football today. The Chiefs wanted to lock their wide receiver star down for the next several years as they are on the cusp of being a real contender for the Super Bowl. This move will have pushback from the media because of the accusations against Hill. However, the Chiefs seem to be confident that Hill can turn his life around and focus on his on field performance. It remains to be seen if Hill can keep his head screwed on straight, and focus on football where he is a dominant star. I give this deal a positive grade for his talent and ability alone. He will have to improve his character in order to prove the Chiefs confidence in him was the right move
